I Quall, he qualls, she qualls

To quall. To quilt and mull at the same time. I know, I know, the spelling seems a bit off, but you can't put two 'U's together can you now, and quilling is something else entirely, so quall it is, for now at least. A friend pointed out the other day that Shakespeare invented a whole lexicon of new words, so how did he decide what the spelling would be? Well, he wrote it differently every time he published and let the public decide. Qualling has been my primary activity this week, finishing two quilts for my children whilst I mull over my unfinished manuscript, desperately trying to find a way back in. There are a handful of things that get me into a creative flow - writing, gardening and sewing. If you can't manage it with one, why not try it with another? At least that was my logic. And once again I've had the opportunity to condition myself into believing that I am a completer finisher, and that these quilts that I started (ahem) number of years ago, will finally...

The first Yay! of 2022

The Yay! list is my way of celebrating all those small achievements that might not seem much to anyone else, but altogether add up to me living the life I want to live.  My three words for 2022 are Nurture, Creative and Time, and the first Yay! hits all three of those spots. I have taken the time to finish a cross stitch embroidery. I got it out of a box, I started it ages ago, I have not completed it expertly or quickly, and it's not going to make me rich or famous.  However, what I did achieve was sitting down for several evenings in a row to enjoy making something beautiful. That's good enough for me. Yay!
